Sporting Equipment - Firearms

Transporting a Firearm:
  • You must be at least 18 years of age to check a firearm.
  • The Guest who checks the firearm must also be the Guest traveling with the firearm.
  • Traveling with firearms is allowed within the domestic United States only.
  • Firearms must be unloaded for transport.
  • Firearms must be in a locked, hard-sided container designed specifically to carry sporting guns or firearms, and only the Guest should have the key or combination.
  • Firearms must fit securely within the case.
  • You can bring up to two (2) gun cases that do not exceed 50 lbs or 62 linear inches each.
  • Any point on a firearm case intended to be locked must have a lock in place to be accepted.
  • All locks should be sufficient to prevent the firearm case from being opened.
  • Locks with long shackles or cables will not be accepted.
  • Firearms cases are accepted as checked bags only.

At the Ticket Counter:
When you check your bags at the ticket counter, please declare that you're traveling with a firearm and ammunition.
  • You'll need to complete and sign a Firearms Declaration tag for each firearm you check.
  • If your locked gun case is packed inside another bag, the Firearms Declaration tag will go inside the bag next to the gun case.
  • If your locked gun case is not inside another bag, the Firearms Declaration tag will go inside the case next to the firearm.

Compressed Air and Pellet Guns:
  • Compressed air and pellet guns are subject to all firearm guidelines.
  • Paintball guns are not considered firearms and may be checked in a hard- or soft-sided container or bag. See our Sports Equipment support page for information about oversized/overweight bag fees and release forms.
  • Compressed gas cylinders are NOT permitted on Breeze in checked or carry-on bags.

Ammunition:
  • You must be at least 18 years of age to check ammunition.
  • We accept ammunition in checked bags only.
  • The Guest who checks the ammunition must also be the Guest traveling with the ammunition.
  • Ammunition must be packed separately from any firearms.
  • Ammunition must be securely packaged in the manufacturer's original container or other fiber, wood, or metal box that is specifically designed to carry ammunition.
  • We accept small arms ammunition up to 19.1 mm for rifle and pistol cartridges and any size for shotgun shells.
  • Ammunition must be for personal use only.
  • Empty ammunition clips and magazines must also be securely packaged.
  • The maximum amount of ammunition per Guest is 11 lbs.

Checked bag fees apply. Excess, overweight, and oversized fees may apply.

TSA agents make the final decision regarding firearms and ammunition.
